Summer Literacy Events

As the semester winds down, we are gearing up for some great summer literacy experiences!  The first event will be on June 6th, 2016 when we host Kristen Hawley Turner and Troy Hicks, co-authors of the professional development text entitled, Connected Reading: Teaching Adolescent Readers in a Digital World.  The authors will spend the day with educators sharing best practices with digital literacies.  You will leave with an arsenal of digital practices and tools to aid in differentiated literacy instruction (in addition to free lunch and a free book!), plus Drs. Hicks and Turner will elaborate on how adolescents utilize digital reading and how educators can apply those practices to classroom instruction.  Seating is limited to 60 participants.  See more information on the attachment below.  To sign up for this event, please email:

The second event we hope you will mark your calendars for is our annual Best of the Best….Thus Far event.  During this day event, educators, librarians, and book lovers can hear book talks about the best current children’s and young adult literature.  This event will be held on July 15th and more information will follow on the CCYAL website and Facebook page.  We’re excited to bring some new information to this event and you could win a chance to have dinner with Matt de la Pena when he speaks in September!
