Summer Partnerships

As the summer continues to progress, the CCYAL is enjoying the many literacy partnerships we have been cultivating throughout the year.  We were pleased to partner with Dr. Troy Hicks and Dr. Kristen Turner as well as The Episcopal School of Knoxville to bring the Connected Reading professional development inservice to educators throughout Knox and surrounding counties.  Another event we are pleased to collaborate on is McClung Museum's Night at the Museum event.  McClung Museum, on the University of Tennessee's campus, has procured exhibits from the Museum of Natural History in New York to display dinosaur exhibits in their newest collection.  For the Night at the Museum event, the CCYAL will be reading two stories about dinosaurs, Oh Say Can You Din-o-Saur, by Bonnie Worth and How the Dinosaur Got to the Museum by Jessie Hartland.

The second collaboration is with the Knox County Public Library where the Center, along with several local presenters will be sharing the most exciting titles in children's and young adult literature so far this year at our Best of the Best event.  In addition to book-talking some amazing titles, we will also have a book sale and you could win a chance to have dinner with children's and young adult award-winner author, Matt de la Pena! This event will cover all grades (K-12).  Consider registering today!
