Celebrating 150 Years of The Secret Garden author Frances Hodgson Burnett in East Tennessee

Week of November 16-19 2015 150th anniversary celebration in New Market, Jefferson City, and Dandridge Tennessee .

Most everyone in our area has heard of The Secret Garden, but few know that the author lived here in East Tennessee when she first came to America from England in 1865, first living in New Market, then in Knoxville. The life and works of Frances Hodgson Burnett will be celebrated the week of Nov. 16-19 with several events taking place. Frances's life was like some of the books she penned, going from wealth to poverty, then a rags to riches story. The author, who wrote many books, is best remembered for her three most famous children's books, The Secret Garden, Little Lord Fauntleroy, and A Little Princess.
